f r o s t s t a r ;; Froststar stirred in her nest. It was early dawn, and the sun was just beginning to rise, spreading its warmth and evaporating the morning mist that hung low over the StormClan camp. It was late leafbare, and there was still snow on the ground, but with luck, newleaf would soon be here, and with it would come prey.
Froststar blinked her ice-blue eyes, then rose to her feet and stretched. She yawned as she padded outside of her den, and was immediately startled by a strong gust of cold wind, which almost knocked her over. Now wide awake, she padded over to the float-rock, where the new fresh-kill pile was located, only to find it empty. She decided to go check on the camp instead.
The medicine cats' den was empty. Lunarwind and Silvermist must have gone out early to look for herbs, thought Froststar. She didn't want to wake the warriors or apprentices, so instead she began repairing the Nursery's wall, for it would soon be full with queens and their kits, but for now it was empty, and the holes in the walls were making it chilly inside with drafts.

Hawktail slowly blinked her eyes open. She had a nice sleep, and finally the cold, windy conditions outdoors didn't wake her.
She yawned and then pulled herself up. She then proceeded to reach her paws out across the den and stretch. When she took a step forward, she stretched out her back legs and then walked outside the den.
The warriors' den felt lonely with nobody inside, but it sure gave her a lot of room to sleep, and she didn't have to worry about stepping over cats to get outside. Leaf-bare had definitely effected them. At least it was nearly over.
Hawktail padded outside, and nearly jumped at the snow's cold feeling. I still need to get used to that, she thought as she stepped on the snow more. She looked around.
Every den had frost on top of them. Hawktail assumed that it was because overnight temperatures. It often happened in leaf-bare, and sometimes the strong, cold gusts of winds even managed to make a small hole, which made made dens extremely drafty.
She took another look around and then spotted a white outline of something by the nursery. Froststar, she guessed. Seems like we both woke up rather early today.
Hawktail trotted over to the nursery to check out what Froststar was doing.
"Good morning, Froststar," Hawktail yawned. "What are you doing?

Froststar looked up from patching a particularly large wall in the nursery and waved her tail in greeting. "Good morning, Hawktail! I'm just patching the nursery's walls. They're a bit drafty, and we don't want the queens and their kits to get cold this coming season."
She piled more foliage to block off the hole. "Mind lending a paw to help?"

Hawktail blinked.
"Of course," she mewed. She stretched one last time before padding over and helping Froststar.
Hawktail piled some foliage up to the hole as well. She looked around for anything else that could, but unfortunately didn't spot anything useful.
"I wish it were leaf-fall. It rains, and then there's mud. Mud is excellent for covering up dens after it's dry," Hawktail commented, but then an idea popped into her head. "Hey, do you think snow could work, Froststar? I think it'd still be cold enough for it to not melt, and we could just cover up the hole on the inside to make sure the snow doesn't freeze someone to death."
Hawktail dug one of her paws into the snow, and although it was cold, she quickly pushed some out. She repeated until she had a nice pile of snow to use, and then she looked over to Froststar for approval.

Froststar blinked with approval. "That's a brilliant idea! I don't know why I never thought of it before."
She finished piling the dead leaves up to patch one more hole, then padded over to where Hawktail had gathered a pile of snow to use. She slid the snow along the cold ground, then, careful not to make the pile collapse, began shaping it so it would fit in the holes and block out the drafts. "Snow's great at containing the heat inside!"

Silvermist walked into camp, carrying a bundle of marigold. She padded over to the medicine cat den and put the leaves into storage. "Hello Froststar and Hawktail," Silvermist greeted her clanmates. "What's up?"

Hawktail carefully brought her pile of snow to another small hole, and then covered up a fragile part of the wall, and repeated until she thought the wall was stable enough.
She turned over to Silvermist. "Repairing the nursery walls," Hawktail meowed.
Hawktail walked over to the other side of the den and inspected it. "Froststar, this wall seems pretty stable, although the gusts of wind have been unpredictable in direction lately. Should we put some snow on it just in case?"

Froststar pushed more snow over to the nursery to cover up a hole and patted it in place with her paws. She finished smoothing down the snow with her tail, then padded over to Hawktail on the other side of the nursery.
"I think we would be wise to support all the dens with snow, actually," she remarked. "It makes them more stable, and blocks out more wind as well."

l u n a r w i n d ;; Lunarwind had just reached camp. She made a beeline for the medicine den, paying little or no attention to the cats working on the nursery.

Hawktail nodded in agreement, and then as another response, she piled up more snow and patted on the den.
"Hey, Lunarwind!" Hawktail shouted over when she noticed Lunarwind walking into the camp.
She piled up more snow with her tail, and continued patting it onto the den wall. When she thought that side was stable enough, she spoke again.
"I think when we're done with the nursery, we should work on the elders' den," Hawktail said, padding over to the other side of camp to reach the elders' den. Since they didn't work on it as much as other dens, considering there were no elders, it was pretty unstable and extremely drafty.
Hawktail carefully walked to the back of the nursery and got more snow ready.
"Anyway, I think we might have to rebuild the elders' den all together. I mean..you're gonna end up moving there soon, right?" Hawktail purred, obviously joking.

Moonpool stretched, struggling to get up. She yawned, then blinked. "How long have I been asleep?" she said groggily. "Huh? Snow? Is it leafbare already?" She struggled onto her paws; she felt lightheaded, unnaturally lightheaded. It seemed as if she was sleeping for moons... but that's not possible, is it? Moonpool looked down onto her paws, then meowed back in surprise. She looked transparent... at least, that's what she thought she saw. She looked again and found herself fine, and she sighed in relief and shock.
"Maybe I'm just sick... Lunarwind would know what to do," Moonpool said to herself. "Speaking of which, I wonder if the cats recovered from nightcough yet." She found herself walking back to the camp, almost in a daze. Soon she had reached the clan's enterance.
"Am... am I at the right clan?" she asked. This was nothing like she remembered... the fallen dens, the lack of cats. "Did I go to the wrong place?" She then spotted four recognizable cats, and the truth dawned... this was StormClan. But what had happened?

l u n a r w i n d ;; Lunarwind ignored her Clanmates' greetings and stormed off to the medicine den. She was now apparently in a bad mood for no reason. When she arrived inside the den, she set the herbs down on a rock, then laid down, and began to let her gaze wander aimlessly around the den.

"Hey! I'm not that old!" purred Froststar. She was about to mention something about fixing the elders' den, but then she noticed Moonpool standing at the entrance to camp. The white she-cat gave a startled mew of surprise, then dropped everything else she was doing and ran over to greet her former apprentice with a warm voice. "Moonpool! You're alive!"

Hawktail purred along with Froststar, but then stopped and narrowed her eyes.
"Moonpool!" she yowled, sprinting to her old clanmate. Her and Moonpool often went on patrols together, shared tongues, and had chats often while in camp. She was overjoyed to see her friend back.
Hawktail reached Moonpool and then stopped, tilting her head to her.
"Where were you?"

"Ah... Hawktail, Froststar!" Moonpool blinked. "I was... I was sleeping outside. Was I really gone for that long?" It was a mystery what had happened, something she knew that she would want to discuss with Lunarwind, with her connection to StarClan. Besides, she didn't want to tell Froststar that she was half-dead anyway.
She mewed happily at the sight of them, then turned serious. "What happened here anyway? It looks like twolegs stomped their way through here or something."
